The Invisalign® Process

The Invisalign® process starts with a consultation with an Invisalign®-trained doctor. They will examine your mouth and discuss your treatment options with you. If you decide to move forward with Invisalign®, impressions (molds) and X-rays of your teeth will be taken. These records will be used to create your unique Invisalign® plan. From there, your custom aligners will be created. You’ll receive several sets of aligners throughout your treatment, and you’ll need to wear each set for about two weeks before moving on to the next. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they’ve straightened to the final position that the doctor has prescribed. A few other things that are important to know before starting your treatment process include:

You’ll visit the doctor about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

You should wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day.

The only time you’ll take them out is to eat, brush, and floss.

You’ll need to clean your aligners daily. Simply brushing them with toothpaste and rinsing them with water will do the trick.

You may experience some discomfort for the first few days after you receive your aligners and as your teeth begin to move. This is normal and should go away quickly.
